I was lucky enough to bag a ticket to the ARTC Charity Ball this year. The theme was Wille Wonka and the chocolate factory. It was held in Newcastle Panthers and was such a great night. They raised so much money for a great cause – Autism Spectrum Australia. A couple of parents of children who have autism spoke about how autism has affected their lives, which I loved hearing about. There was a live auction, ballot bidding and they sold Wonka chocolate bars for $100 a pop. Some of the bars even had golden tickets!
A local band, The Rumour also played. They were pretty good.
This wasn’t an event I had ever been to before and I haven’t been to any formal events here in Australia so it was definitely something new and exciting for me. I got my dress in a great little shop in Maitland called Etagi Dancewear – I think. It was only $150 which is pretty cheap compared to formal dresses back in Ireland. The girl was so helpful – they definitely come recommended. I didn’t even know the shop existed and I’ve been living here 9 months. I will definitely be popping in again soon.
One think I do really miss for events like these is my hair extensions…
