TRAVEL: GOLD COAST
In April, I finally had a well needed three day break with my lovely boyfriend. We traveled up the coast to the sunny Gold Coast. I bought a package deal from Groupon last year for both the hotel and theme parks ( I really don’t recommend Groupon for any holiday deals as I had a bad experience with this one – voucher email never arrived and Groupon wouldn’t honor it or admit they made a mistake and the hotel ended up honoring the voucher anyway) We stayed in the Mantra Hotel in an apartment type room which had a balcony with views looking over the ocean, a kitchen and a laundry.
I hadn’t been in a theme park for a couple of years, my last theme park trip was to Disneyland Paris years ago, so I was really excited. It was also quite cool to see what the Gold Coast had to offer in terms of theme parks in comparison to Disney.
We visited Dreamworld the first day which was a massive eye opener. We had a great time and really enjoyed ourselves. The following morning, we actually went back to Dreamworld to spend time with their tiger cubs (you can read abut the experience here).
We then spent the rest of the day at White Water World. While we were on the Gold Coast we also went up the Skypoint tower and had breakfast at the top, on level 77 which had beautiful views of the Gold Coast.
I really enjoyed our short trip to the Gold Coast and would definitely recommend a visit to the theme parks.
On the way back to Newcastle, we stopped by Byron Bay which was really beautiful.
