BEAUTY REVIEW: CHANEL VITALUMIÈRE AQUA
I picked up the CHANEL VITALUMIÈRE AQUA foundation on my recent trip to Ireland when I ran out of my Urban Decay one which I usually mix with my Maybelline FIT foundation. I really like the Urban Decay one which I bought in Mecca when I was in Melbourne but now that the weather is so much warmer in Australia, it was starting to look yellow on me. As you can see below in my bare face photo, I have pink undertones so yellow-ish foundation just makes me look sick – hence mixing it with Maybelline foundation.
I bought this for about 50 Eur which is $69 in House of Fraser in Dundrum.
Before I bought it, I did a bit of research into it as I wanted to make sure it was suitable for oily skin as an oily skin sufferer, which it obviously is or I wouldn’t have purchased it.
First off, the packaging is really compact – perfect for travelling or popping in your handbag, which my Urban Decay foundation really wasn’t. It also smells really good – almost like sun cream but fresh.
I really liked this foundation. I wore it for 4 weeks before reviewing so I could give an honest review rather than a first impression. Sometimes I find that a product might work for a week but then isn’t that great. This isn’t one of those products. I found it easy to build coverage but it didn’t look like I was wearing heaps of makeup.
One tip I would give is shake the bottle really well before use as the foundation is almost like water. I’ve been applying it with my Zoeva 102 and buffing slightly with 104, but I feel like using the brush I’m loosing a lot of product. I’m not a fan of using my fingers during make up application but it is probably a better way to apply this foundation as it is so watery.
Longevity-wise – It’s lasted really well for me so far – I’m talking 10 hour days with primer underneath. It has SPF 15 too.
I had a quick look while I was swatching and finding my own shade at the other shades available. There were quite a few from both warm and cool tones in House of Fraser. I’m really pale and usually find it difficult to find a foundation but got lucky and matched perfectly.
Hopefully if you decide to give this one a try, you’ll be able to find your perfect shade.
