Want clear skin? Me too.
It’s no secret, I have oily skin. Just check out this or this post if you want to hear about my acne journey. I would love nothing more than to wake up one day with completely clear skin. I’m now at a point in my life where I realise that may never happen. My acne is hormonal so I need to try different things to help my issue but that’s another days post.
I’ve reviewed so many products trying to find a ‘cure’. So for the last while, I’ve been making up a natural face mask (Which the talented Debbie Leonard from Onestepcloser2fabulous.ie gave me) which is so gentle and soothing for my skin and I can honestly say, has my skin glowing the next day. So what’s in this beauty concoction I hear you ask?
It’s quite simple really and something I’m pretty sure everyone has in their cupboard; oats and honey.
Yup, it’s really that simple!
I steam my face for ten minutes until I feel my pores are open, sometimes adding some fennel, also on Debbie’s recommendation, then apply this honey and oats mixture and leave it on for about 20 minutes, give or take. I do this twice or three times a week and have definitely noticed a big difference since I’ve started using this face mask.
On a side note, while this is amazing for your skin and leaves you with a glow, it is very messy, or at least, I find it messy, sometimes blobs of honey/oat fall off and they’re a disaster to try and get out of carpet without leaving a stain behind, so I highly recommend doing this in either clothes you don’t mind messing up or in the bath.
Now to be completely honest, this won’t make acne go away and leave you with clear skin magically but it will soothe your skin and oats are a natural exfoliant. If you are suffering from really bad acne, I suggest seeing a medical professional. There are many things they may suggest including roaccutane, microdermabrasion or going on the pill. You can read about my experience with Microdermabrasion here.
Good luck on your clear skin journey. Let me know if you try the honey oat mask!
