I’m BACK writing on LoveNiamh!
It’s been a hot minute since I have written anything on LoveNiamh.
LoveNiamh|What happened?
The past 24 months have been an absolute whirlwind.
I suffer from Endometriosis and had surgery, completed a round of IVF, had a high risk pregnancy ending up on bed rest for months in Newcastle Private which resulted in my healthy baby boy, while building my first home, going through treatment for braces to straighten my teeth, and planning a wedding in Ireland, where I also had the baby christened and finally got my Australian citizenship on Australia Day 2020.
So much happened over a 24 month period but pretty much at the same time that I didn’t feel able to share at the time. I just couldn’t give any post the time it deserved to share any experience.
LoveNiamh is and has always been my space to share but I literally feel like only recently have I been able to stop and take a breath.
Going through the IVF process is very daunting and something I didn’t think I would have to do. Not only is it so emotionally taxing but your body is certainly put through the wringer. I can honestly say it is one of the best things I have ever done as I got my baby boy! I have not experienced love or fear like the first time Liam was placed on my chest. He is the most beautiful and selfless little human. He is simply incredible.
Mum life has been amazing but has certainly had a lot of challenges. Liam arrived 5 weeks early so we had a few difficulties to overcome. We are so lucky to have our little man and so grateful to the team at Genea and Newcastle Private. I will be sharing more in detail which I hope will be of help to any soon to be Mummas.
We were fortunate enough that pre-Covid, we managed to travel to Ireland twice with Liam to introduce him to our families. Having a child so far away from family is definitely a challenge. There are some really really hard days. However, the lifestyle we have over here could never ever be replicated in Ireland. We are extremely lucky to have been embraced by Australia.
LoveNiamh | What next?
Over the next few months, I look forward to sharing all my experiences on LoveNiamh – from building our first home, IVF journey, pregnancy & first year as a Mum, and planning a wedding in a foreign country and everything in between!
