I received a copy of Matthew Quick’s latest novel ‘Love May Fail’ in the post recently.
Love May Fail tells the story of Portia Kane, who is having a meltdown. After escaping her cheating pornographer husband, she finds herself back in her hometown, South Jersey. A little lost and alone, Portia meets an old school friend who accidentally sets her off on a quest to save the one man who always believed in her, her high school English teacher, Mr. Vernon, who has retired after a student attacked him in his classroom.
I’m a big chick lit fan so this is the type of book I would buy. My favorite place to read and escape life is as always the bath. I also tried out GlamGlow’s Supermud Clearing Face Mask while reading this book so keep an eye out for my review on www.loveniamh.com!
The book is divided into four parts and tells the story from different perspectives which I quite enjoyed. I love the fact that many of the characters have the opportunity and cause to have a pessimistic view on life but in actual fact are grateful for what they have. I found the story made me think about fate and if I believe in it which I hadn’t given much thought to before so I guess I took away quite a bit from this book.
Having enjoyed the book, I do have to admit that I did almost give up reading it. I really couldn’t buy into the chapters written as Portia. I found them too drawn out, but, if you can get past the first couple of chapters, I honestly think, if you are anything like me, you will enjoy the rest of the book.
