Weightloss with Changing Habits: If you have been reading Love Niamh for a while, you will know that in 2014 I was in a car accident. Following the accident, I struggled to comfortably move and put on about 10-12kgs. I worked hard with two separate personal trainers and going to the gym a couple of times a week to try and lose the weight I had put on (I even tried gym challenges!) and I was somewhat successful (to read my weightloss journey – click here). I struggled however to keep it off. Then I came across Changing Habits.
Yes, it’s awesome to be be active, but how healthy are you really if your diet sucks?
I didn’t realize how awful my diet was until I took part in this program.
I purchased the Starter Pack on the website which consisted of a book and the ‘support’ drops. There is now also an online program. I believe there will be an app soon.
I started taking the drops three times a day on Day 1.
The 4 phase protocol relies upon 4 stages of eating. Phase 1 (day 1 &2) is fat loading. You are basically eating the fat your body will survive on over the coming weeks.
Phase 2 & 3 (days 3 -24) is where you eat specific quantities of certain foods.
Phase 4 (days 25-35) sees you introduce foods back into your diet. I found this awesome as some foods I eat, I react too. Prior to doing the protocol I wasn’t aware of this.
On the protocol, I have lost 7kgs so far. I started at 74kgs in January of this year (2017) and am currently hovering around 66/67kgs. This took me just over four weeks on the protocol. I think you can tell the difference in the puffiness in my face…
I downloaded an app called My Weight which I used to track my weight loss.
I struggled a lot for the first couple of days of eating. Day 3/4 were the hardest days for me. Overall, I found the protocol easy to stick too after those first few days. Losing weight quickly also spurred me on. I never expected doing this to be easy. Changing your diet in a such a rapid manner is no easy task. I avoided socializing at first but there was no need.
I spent so long in a gym seeing very little change on the scales, over the course of two years. It was awesome to see bigger loses so quickly. In saying that, I am not a medical professional, this is a program which worked for me. Not only did I lose weight, but I re-educated myself on healthier eating.
I was eating way too many sugary treats before I began my journey. I think about the amount of greens I eat in proportion to my protein serves now. I consume a LOT more fruit too. This protocol is no quick fix.
If you don’t want to change your lifestyle and attitude to food, I wouldn’t suggest trying it at all.
Is the weightloss worth it? I think so.
I am doing another round of the protocol to get back to my goal weight of 62kgs.
I imagine if I was eating my old diet, I would be at a similar weight to when I started.
There is a really active community on Facebook, which I find helpful. The group is really supportive. I found great recipes on the Skinnymixers site too.
